Aiko's Art Materials - Chicago, for handmade Japanese paper and gifts items to inspire and delight.

Business Closed

After more than 50 years in business, Aiko's Art Materials closed on April 11, 2008. Aiko's was founded in Chicago by Mrs. Aiko Nakane (1908-2004). The business has not only specialized in washi, handmade Japanese paper, but also in other hard-to-find Japanese art supplies such as fude (brushes for painting and calligraphy), hake (wide brushes for painting, pasting and dye work), sumi (black stick ink) and traditional water colors. In addition to these supplies Aiko's always stocked a selection of wonderful mingei pottery, prints and other hand-crafted Japanese items.
